Alex Ramel
(Prefers Democratic Party)

Elected Experience: First time candidate

Other Professional Experience: Clean Energy and Environmental Community Organizer. As Program Director at Sustainable Connections I championed the Community Energy Challenge, creating living-wage jobs, reducing pollution, and making energy upgrades for thousands of homes and small businesses in Whatcom, Skagit, and San Juan Counties.

Education: BA in Environmental Policy and Planning, Western Washington University.

Community Service: Past President, Kulshan Community Land Trust: I worked to create affordable housing for low and middle income families. Worker Retraining Advisory Board: during the recession, I served to help people build new careers. Past Chair, Whatcom Chapter of Washington Conservation Voters.

Statement: I’ll be a champion for our progressive values. As a single dad, I know our kids deserve a bright future with homes we can afford, a safe climate, healthcare for all, fully funded schools, equal pay for women and gun violence prevention.

I’m a trusted coalition builder who brings people together. I’ve found common ground between environmentalists and union workers at local refineries. I’m endorsed by local United Steelworkers and Washington Conservation Voters. I’m listed as a 100% Pro-Choice candidate with NARAL. My strong stance on common sense gun laws is why I’m certified by Moms Demand Action.
